The Alberta government has proposed removing the fund assets from the Alberta Teachers Retirement Fund (where teacher representatives hold half the seats) and transferring them to the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo). This will not save the government any money, but could actually cost the fund through lower returns.
